| Loose "copy" of Burns Bison bass. Very rare, all original, Very Good Condition. Among the earliest of Japanese imports to copy design elements of Burns guitars. No fancy Burns-style electronics, however; just two volume knobs and one tone knob. This bass and it’s 6-string cousins were also marketed under the “Maxitone” and “Goldentone” headstock badges. The 3 + 1 tuning key layout predates Music Man by a decade at least. Transparent red mahogany body with 4 black pickguards and extra long sharp horns. Two "toaster" type chrome pickups. Low output from bridge pickup, good sound from neck pickup. 3+1 tuner arrangement. Bridge cover. Bridge has plastic saddles (original) and a piece of plexiglass under the bridge as a shim (not original.) Large chip out of the back of the lower horn; not visible from the front. Original contoured case in salmon "tweed look" vinyl. |
